openpkg-20060204 porting

Notes while attempting to build.

This build went further without modifications than my last attempt, openpkg-20050809.

The first failure is in the uuid package in which there is a conflict in the definition of uuid_t in the uuid.h file.

I got this to build by *ifdev'ing'' a define uuid_t myuuid_t.

Here is a patch for uuid.h, and a new openpkg.sped file that worked (or at least I think it did :-)

I'm looking now for build-in defines in Apple's gcc to use instead of using something arbitrary (e.g. -DDARWIN).

GCC

I haven't been able to get gcc-4.0.2 to build properly on OS X, and have tried different bombinations of options, optimize, threads, binutils, etc.

Looking at the fink system, they use virtual packages for several versions of gcc so I'm create a package ``gccosx'' which provides gcc.

Share Libraries

I have found that many packages require shared libraries on Tiger. Most notably python won't find the core libpython routines when importing modules containing compile code.
